The climate of the South Carolina Lowcountry  generally has a temperate, subtropical climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Snow and freezing temperatures are possible in the winter at the higher elevations, but rarely seen along the coast. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season which is May - November. Average daytime temperatures range in from the eighties in the summer to the sixties in the winter.
